Gil S. Amaral, Esq.
Managing Partner
I received my B.A. from Middlebury College in 1982 and my master’s degree in 1985. I went on to attend the University of Maryland School of Law, where I received my J.D. in 1989. I began my career in litigation early on in law school, successfully trying civil rights cases in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
My clerkships with the felony trial unit of the Baltimore City Office of the Public Defender and with the Law Offices of William H. Murphy Jr. gave me the experience I needed to start successfully trying serious criminal matters in both the district and circuit courts immediately after being admitted to the Maryland and District of Columbia Bars.
After serving as an assistant public defender in Baltimore for two years, I accepted a position with the Law Office of Roland Walker as a trial attorney handling both criminal and civil matters. In 1995, I was made partner.
Four years later, I began my own law firm, the Law Office of Gil S. Amaral. I have been successfully defending clients’ interests for the last 30 years and I continue to provide the high-quality representation and personal attention that my clients require. My current practice includes serious criminal defense at both the district and circuit courts across the entire state of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Additionally, I handle personal injury cases.
I am a proud member in good standing of the State Bars of Maryland and the District of Columbia, as well as the Federal Bar for the District of Maryland. I am also a member of the Maryland Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
